They free up after you fully turn them a few times, but it's a real pain. The sticking is common, the crust you are describing not so much. Clean the faucet well by disassembling and soaking in Clean Flo. Maybe look into a forward sealing faucet to reduce it in the future. Malt is the soul of beer and yeast gives it life..
